Semester 1 Reflection

As for the actual images I take, I think overall they aren't too bad. I try to think of good ideas when I plan my pictures. The quality of the subject matter depends on the subject. If I was good at taking close ups then those pictures would be great. Some subjects I struggled to come up with an idea for it. I would fulfill the assignments and do as the assignment said. I would try to take it further but most of the time I would just do what the assignment was. I would always make sure to have the proper format and the right resolution. I would generally complete my work on time. I always tried to go beyond my first idea. Most of the time my first idea wasn't good enough so it would be my 2nd or 3rd idea. I try a few other different things before. A lot of the times I do go back to my original idea.

I would actively take my photos for each assignment. Some times I look for the most convenient subject/location/solution. But other times I try to challenge myself. Typically I would take a weekend to think about my idea and shoot it that weekend or sometimes I didn't have anything until a few days before the assignment was due. I sometimes shoot more photos than required but usually I do the exact amount. Most of the time I do the idea that first comes to my head and sometimes it is difficult. I would try the idea before giving up. If a shot was hard to get I wouldn't give up until I've tried different things. I tend to stay in my comfort zone as for being creative I always try to be creative. I usually have a positive attitude looking at other students' work. A lot of the times I think about how good the idea was and how I should've done it.

I am always on time to class. I try to work throughout the block but sometimes I think for a long time about a idea. I typically work independently. I think that I am on task and use the class time productively, if I had shot photos for the assignment.

I think that I have some skills in photography but for certain subjects. When I do my own projects I like to take photos of my friends and they look really good. I also think I'm better and taking close up photos of nature. I think I can improve technically because there are things I can certainly work on. I think I can have a better composition and more compelling images. I feel if the subject matter was more my style I would be more confident. I think I can work on having stronger concepts too.

In the next semester I think there are a few things I can do differently. I feel I can have stronger ideas and really put all my effort in taking a really great picture. I think I can dig deeper and come up with a more compelling image and do more than just the assignment.

Some ideas I have are taking pictures of people on the street or just people I know or just having non-setup photos (candid), and I also think we could also have more projects with taking pictures of landscapes or nature images.
